AEEE-EVO affiliate certified 33 CMVPs in India - Statistics


AEEE has been intensely engaged in raising the awareness on M&V and creating capacity by conducting CMVP Training and Certification in India, With the support of Bureau of Energy Efficeincy (BEE) and USAID supported ECO-III project, and active participation by AEEE member companies. Measurement & Verification (M&V) concept is an essential pre-requisite for smooth implementation of many of the recently launched or upgraded energy conservation and efficiency programmes in India. To name a few, the  Energy Conservation Building Codes (ECBC), Demand Side Management (DSM), Perform Achieve and Trade (PAT) scheme under the National Mission on Enhanced Energy Efficiency (NMEEE), ESCO performance contracting among others, being actively pursued by the Bureau.  Most of these programmes require extensive data collection, development of baselines and close monitoring and verification of peformance.

In less than a year, 33 CMVPs have qualified and are available in the field. Some 8 EE professionals were certified in December 2009, and another 25 in August 2010. They are from a wide cross-section of sectors and industries, and geographically distributed across India. 

In Sept 2010 AEEE conducted a Trainer of Trainers programme which certified 3 Indian CMVP trainers. AEEE is now working with M&V practitioners to develop M&V Case Studies andM&V Plans relevant to different energy intensive, end-use sectors in India, actively supported by AEEE members.


 
Background of CMVPsIn order to motivate the existing CMVPs and encourage others to acquire this expertise, AEEE has sought BEE's support to proactively utilize the CMVPs in the programmes mentioned above. AEEE has proposed to BEE tht this could be done by referencing  and citing preferences for CMVPs in developing and staffing these programmes, as well as in BEE’s own RFPs and Tender documents.
