Ipshita is an India-based Strategic Media Communications & Public Affairs expert with 13 years of substantial content, Media, PR & communications leadership experience through India with resonance in the APAC region.
Ipshita currently works with Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy’s as the lead storyteller working on increased familiarity on energy efficiency as the first fuel. She uses multimedia platforms for internal and external communications, public affairs, branding, reputation management to help shape our narrative.
Prior to this, Ipshita has served as the Digital Engagement Director for the American Consulate General Kolkata for east and northeast India as a locally employed staff for the United States, Department of State. More recently, she worked as the Head of Communications & Public Affairs for Government of Andhra Pradesh’s Economic Development Board. From 2005-2011, she wore a Media hat as Senior Reporter at The Telegraph India and Assistant Editor for UK-based publishing Dorling Kindersley Private Limited with an early career stint with CNN-IBN.
In 2016, Ipshita was the only Indian representative for the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of South and Central Asia at the United Nations Framework Convention for Climate Change (COP22) conference where she promoted the United States government’s stakes, and policy initiatives in Clean Energy and Climate Action in the aftermath of the Paris Climate Accord using Digital Media Diplomacy for content resonant through 11 APAC countries.
She is also the recipient of three exceptional performance awards from U.S. Embassy India and a U.S. Department of State’s Franklin Award for her innovation and productivity from 2012-2017. During this tenure, she was the chief Media strategist for two Consul Generals and primary Twitter voice for two U.S. Ambassadors for the east and northeastern region.
For the government of Andhra Pradesh, Ipshita has lead significant Media engagements including the Government of Andhra Pradesh’s former Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s World Economic Forum 2018 Communication outreach and the state’s first international Media collaboration with Bloomberg Media.
Ipshita is a Post-Graduate Diploma (two-years full time) holder in Content Creation & Media Management from School of Convergence, New Delhi. She has graduated with English Honors from St. Xavier’s College in Kolkata and has more than 150 by-lined news features to her name working at The Telegraph.
Ipshita also has experience in programming as U.S. Department of State’s certified Grants Office Representative and has lead U.S. Consulate Kolkata’s first Media training grants programs and other grants initiatives for India, with far reaching benefits for Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan.
